S2E4: Meet Josh!

Have you streamed last week’s episode?

What’s up, lil poods? Buckle up for a sultry episode; we have a special guest in the house! Korn is our religion, woven memories of wonder have been made, and exoskeletons of joints are scattered amongst us. Join us in meeting a man of plants, contemplation, and California Quails: Josh Corder!
Creature comforts this episode? Redbull is definitely the most shocking in today’s lineup. In addition, we are normalizing cannabis by partaking in not one, not two, but three strains throughout this week’s podcast:  Double Dream, Peanut Butter Souffle, and Mimosa! No wonder we have sweat dripping down to our elbows.
First things first, we always have Great Housekeeping to attend to! Some people rush home to kick up their feet, some rush home to wash the dishes and wipe down surfaces with too much enthusiasm. I think you all know what kind of gals we are! The California Quail, is indeed, the state bird of California and a huge part of the history, spirituality and lifestyle of the Kumeyaay peoples, mentioned last episode! Our special guest today is also, indeed, a California Quail. Let us wait no further, please get to know our very special guest, Josh!
Some takeaways? There are two types of people: those who order weed based off the strain properties, and those who order off the jazzy name alone. Josh researches the weed before smoking it, and we actually learn things about our creature comforts today. Verses when Adrianna and Kelli talk about weed, we usually get as far as, ‘ooh this sounds pretty’. We love a Josh! His history with growing sacred plants, food, and hydroponics will leave ya drooling. If you need a landscaper with an eye for using SD native plants and flowers, connect with Josh through his instagram: @bodhi_sligh
We are honestly shocked that we used both the phrase ‘spookie dookie’ and the phrase  ‘nookie cookie’ in this episode over 30 minutes apart from one another. Sounds cosmic to us! We hope you leave inspired with some of Josh’s cannabis bowl art, striving to achieve the perfect yin and yang symbol in your glass piece.
We have a word of the day! VOMCOM, as defined by Josh, is almost self-explanatory. Tune in to listen to the proper catigorization of Romantic Comedies, the kind of bird Josh would be, and further detail on his favorite local business!
Josh introduces us to – Lost Cause Meadery, a mead brewery local here to San Diego that he has been a fan and patron of for many years. Learn more about sacred honey wine, and this small business, by streaming our episode on Spotify, Google Podcasts, and Apple Podcasts!
Hoot hoot! Thanks for joining us Josh, it was a pleasure having you. As always, reach out if you have any feedback, lovebeams, or requests to be one of our special guests! We love ya- IG:@karmasdpodcast

S1E22 – Lil San Deezies

Can you believe we are wrapping up our first season? We are so proud and excited to reflect on our first year of podcasting, local summer nights, and this friggin pandemic. We’ve been aged in the barrels for a few years, so listen up lil San Deezies!

This week’s creature comforts are classic combos of coffee and cannabis, yum. Kelli ordered True Meds delivery of Summer Nights, a hyphy sativa blend that is perfect for December. If you are from a coastal town, then you know that the true locals summer is in, well, the winter! San Diego has been showing off glorious weather and we are loving the locals only vibes. Goodbye crowds, we never missed you.

Adrianna listens intently to Kelli’s story of being 30, seasoned, and wine boosh. White girl wasted and frivolously spending too much money on a Cab Sav, hear about a magical trip to the mountains! It’ll energize you like CAH-CAINE, err, Cacao does on a bright sunny Saturday.

This week’s small business is close to our heart, as Kelli has been eating from Sipz Vegetarian Restaurant for years! We love @sipzcafe and I seriously order garlic fries, a Thai iced tea and summer rolls every week. EVERY WEEK.

Would you buy a coffee table book of Poshmark Idiots? Well look out and watch your Amazon carts, because we really have something good here. Thanks for an amazing season everyone, and get ready for a really exciting SEASON 2 with some fantastic new features, guests, and *cough cough* weeeeeeeeeee-d!

S1E13: Lil Hallowayne

Have you heard are sPoOoOoKy intro? Amazing, right?! Thank you to our creative masterminds, Adrianna and producer Justin @mixedbytruelove, for making our creaky door dreams a reality. We are so incredibly excited to announce that we are officially on APPLE PODCASTS! Yahoo! We have been waiting for this killer n’ thriller moment. Yay!

On this week’s episode, the queen of unpopular opinion talks about her fierce love for bombardier jackets, but a fierce hate for book jackets. New to the bombardier scene? We are too; see below for an image of this iconic ass jacket!

Thanks for the history lesson, veteran cutie from the DMV! #grandpamagnet

Ya’ll ever fiercely argued about how much you agree with one another? Somehow, you end up screaming at each other sweet nothings like, ‘EXACTLY’, ‘I KNOW’, or ‘THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID’. We fiercely agree more than we realize! We are quite literally lit, dare we say thunderstruck, our excitement to be on the same page!

GREAT Housekeeping! This new segments in our podcast addresses all of our mentionables, works cited, activism and after-thoughts. Because we are talking all-things-costumes, we wanted to give a friendly reminder that education cultural appropriation should be your #1 priority this holiday season. With so many excellent costumes to honor and create, let’s kick white racist costumes to the CURB.

Teen Vogue – My Culture is Not your Costume

Let’s ditch the grass skirts, and pick up some actual grass! This week’s cannabis comfort is TIKI RAIN, a flower strain from OutCo that we thoroughly enjoyed this week.

We sure do mention a lot of random shit in this episode, so let’s get cracking! First things first, Chimpanzee on a Segway is an iconic video that you can still stream at your leisure. I am SO SORRY that this annoying song will be in the rest of your head for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. 13 years later and I am going STRONG.

Our small business this Saturday? @Knotsandfinds! Adrianna talks about these MAGNIFICENT witch hat earrings that she ordered for her lovely motha for her birthday this past week.

You can find Paige’s talented art on her Etsy shop- click here!

Tune in for next week’s HALLOWEEN EPISODE, the second of our two-part holiday festivities. We absolutely love halloween and celebrate the holiday year-round.

‘I WANT A BRAD SO BAD!’ See you next week, OMies ๐Ÿ™‚ As always, we love to hear from you! Follow us on Instagram and make our dreams a reality.

S1E3 – The Customer Isn’t Always Right

S1E3 – The Customer Isn’t Always Right

Customer Service makes the world go ’round, so why not cut us some slack? K n’ A process the history of restaurant culture, experiences working retail, server woes and, well, manicotti.

Adrianna and Kelli make a pressing argument as to why all humans of this earth should work in customer service for a well-rounded experience in life. Dark humor and plumes of smoke help us process the best and worst working experiences we had when we were younger, alongside our classic commentary. Become introduced with BLUNT HISTORY, a bit we integrate when we storykeller our way through facts. Hint: it’s worse than drunk history, but we’re working on it.

Introducing: Karma San Diego Podcast

We are a little nervous and a lot of excited to finally be announcing the launch of our podcast, Karma San Diego!!!!

A little background….

Adrianna and Kelli (previously I, of Cordercollective before the site revamp) have been best friends, old roommates, and soul sisters for years! We are long overdue in taking the leap of faith that podcasting requires…let’s just say, it takes a quarantine to shine a light on the things you want most in life!

We have a lot of goals with our podcasts, and we also love blowing with the winds of change when possibility and opportunity come along. We don’t want a structure, with structure! We want only one rule: no rules! Does this vibe sound familiar? Here are some of our podcast thoughts:

-We aren’t looking to edit or delete our mistakes. Call us lazy with editing, or honest with conversations, but we love all the tidbits in-between when it comes to lifestyle podcasting. Whenever I watch Queer Eye and they are getting to the nitty gritty sob fests, I wish they would show the real deal! No splicing and dicing, I want it ALL, all the weird pauses inbetween. We want to bring this vulnerability and authenticity to our podcast which means….

-Calling each other out on our bullshit. The theme of our podcast is really to call out other people, institutions, and perspectives, but we are well-rounded, yall! We are completely aware of how imperfect we are, and so we bring a REDTABLE talk authenticity to our weird ass lives.

-We love cannabis. Yeah, let’s cut straight to it. We’d like to be the Cheech to your chong, and also normalize the hell out of it. The social stigma of cannabis has weighed on our shoulders, the world’s shoulders, for far too long. We might only be two white girls talking about ourselves on a podcast, but we want to be TWO more people in this world taking a step in the right direction:normalising cannabis. Because of this, our podcast is 18-21+ y/o suggested, depending on your listening State and their stipulations on cannabis use. We are located in California, where MMJ (medicinal marijuana) laws apply, and we adhere. We will stay a lot longer at your family BBQs if we can BURN ONE instead of DRINK ONE, yadda?

-We are ridiculous. We are two native San Diegans with loud personalities, a lot of heart, and hard working JANES of all Trades. If we aren’t your people, we might know someone who will be! As liaisons of this world, we will be showcasing 1 local San Diego Business on each Podcast. We love all things SMALL BUSINESS and San Diego needs some serious love and support. We are here for it!

-We podcast weekly. You can expect weekly content, with a special guest at the end of each month. This guest will likely be tied to our SMALL BUSINESS that we are KARMICALLY uplifting, so please feel free to reach out to us!! We would love to do our research, vet ya, and promote ya! We are looking for good people, good work ethics, happy employees, happy customers, and community support. Join us!

-How do we give back to the community? This will continue to grow, as we have many exciting things in the works! Until then, Adrianna hosts San Diego beach clean ups and Kelli is a Little Free library stewardess. Are you interested in attending our beach cleanups, or does a library in your San Diego neighborhood need a refill of books? Reach out to us: karmasdpodcast@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!

We are so excited to launch our first 3 episodes on FRIDAY, August 14th, on all your favorite streaming sites!!

Quarantine Crafting Queen Activities – #ThankfulThursday

Well aren’t I a quarantine crafting queen! What have you been doing to keep busy? I know many have their hands full with working at home and having littles, so I am appreciating the luxury of being able to knit and already having so many extra supplies so that I do not have to spend any money. All situations are different and all are suffering, so I am doing my part and trying to stay sane in the meantime. Aren’t we all?

Some of my favorite crafts that have been keeping us busy:

1. Knitting beanies and plant sleeves with a KNITTING LOOM

2. Finally putting all those puzzles together that have been stacking up in our game cabinet

3. Bake a recipe that requires more than one step- I made cinnamon streusel!

4. Rearrange the entire house to remove stifled and stagnant energy. Bonus points if you are able to bring some of your outdoor plants into the house!

5. Notice things that you haven’t before, like your book titles that are put in upside down in the shelf. Ha- it took being upside down in yoga practice for me to notice this!

6. Check on our free little library! Using safe social distancing and sanitization practices, we have loved being able to walk outside, get some fresh air, and see how many people have been reading a little bit more than they are used to! The collective is appreciative of these libraries as resources because all city libraries are closed

7. Love on your fur babies- letting our dog stay in our bed a little bit more than he usually is allowed. I think he is getting fat!

8. Making and watching YouTube videos- my favorite past time, as I have a few months of catching up to do with Jenna Marbles.

Happy reading and viewing friends! Stop drop and stretch right now!

Chair Yoga in the Desert with my Pupper

Greetings, OMies! What a time to be alive. Quarantined for over 2 weeks, and another 4 weeks tacked on a la president, and I am so incredibly grateful for the gift of social media! Because I am a full time yoga teacher, I have been drastically affected by this shift. While at first, this shift seems negative, I am realizing the beauty that is unfolding before me!

This has been such an excellent catalyst for me to step up my game with a Youtube Channel. I have fantasized about having a channel for sooooo long, I can’t even begin to tell you. Like, Jenna Marbles and Kandee Johnson days. I remember when I first started watching YouTube videos, around the summer of 2009 when I was working at a clothing boutique in San Diego. I wanted to learn how to cut my Tshirts just like Kat Von D does in her television shows. I was elated to find a video of Kat teaching the audience on how she does it! I loved the intimate interaction that happens with what we now call vlogging. Needless to say, I have been recording a lot of yoga content for my current student base. I teach over 12 yoga classes a week, in studios, privates, corporate clients and with family. That’s a lot of YOGA! A lot of faces, a lot of Namastes, and a sacred ritual that seemingly was taken from me…

Until I shifted my drishti.

In our Yoga practice, philosophy, and lifestyle, we turn to the Yamas and Niyamas for inspiration on how to act, handle, and access the self. One of the Niyamas is called Svadhyaya and, long story short, we are learning to self-study, as a collective, in REALTIME. We are in a collective shift of awareness during this pandemic. We are studying ourselves, taking notes and research, and modifying as needed to keep our vessels at a steady ease. Self study can be deep, it can be lighthearted, and it can demand all your attention. Some chapters in life, we get to pick what we self study, and let’s just say we will never take this privilege for granted again! As you might be feeling forced into deep self-study in close quarters, I wanted to provide some of my favorite definitions of SVADHYAYA.

I believe that most Westerners that practice Yoga are familiar with a very privileged form of self-study. We get to choose when we want to self study- applying for grad school, taking on knowledge in forms of hobbies, leisure reading, and on our own time. However, this pandemic has forced self-study. Whether you like it or not, everything about your life has completely changed and we need to adapt and grow accordingly. The first step in adapting? Observation! How have you treated yourself and others during this trying time? Some excel, some drown, and some lose themselves before finding themselves. We accept all forms of expression as we are in this together, as one. How will you look back on your time of self-study?

Here are some of my favorite definitions of self study:

What self-study are you working on? For me, I am working on my confidence and camera presence, as well as how I react to my loved ones, and self, that are riddled with Fear. I am also weaving dream catchers a little differently, 8 weeks strong VEGAN today, and trying how the hell to cook tofu.

As you can see by the hysterical still-frame from my youtube, I have a long way to go. Right now, I have needed to upload content quickly and efficiently, so there are no bells and whistles to my videos.

I really look forward to continue my self study has I take this huge leap of faith and put my MUG all over the internet! All feedback, love, support, and special requests go a long way for me. Cough cough, my love language involves words of affirmation.

Namaste OMies,

K

Long Overdue Chair Yoga for my OMies – #MuseMondays

And all of a sudden, I started living the life I always dreamed of…

Welcome to chair yoga! ๐Ÿ™‚

Greetings, OMies! It’s Kelli here, surviving the pandemic like the rest of us, in quarantine. I am loving that I have a routine to rely on. As a full-time yoga teacher, I drastically made a shift in the way that I work only one week ago. Last Monday, I had finished teaching two classes, in person, and had to assist my beloved yoga studio close down, for now, for the next few weeks. Wow, what a week in the collective consciousness and in myself!

I always planned on uploading my yoga content to youtube, but sometimes, it takes life-crisis, a pandemic, or the true NEED to be the catalyst. I am a fire sign, and when I have a fire lit under me, I will not stop! I am currently engrossed and invigorated by the practice that virtual yoga is bringing me.

As you can imagine, I am used to teaching dozens a classes a week, and taking a few weeks off of this is not great for my mental health. I have a community to serve!

Many of my Yoga videos are accessible through Hapa Yoga Ohana Online, which is a Facebook group that is designed for our clients and members.

I have also been recording content for my private clients! My office yogis still need their yoga, and my family has been requesting tons of different styles of yoga. It is amazing that despite how tragic this situation can be with COVID-19, we are able to rise together as a community and I have been able to create this avenue.
